The Depths II is a tranquil variation on my earlier painting The Depths. It was begun by first drawing the dark jagged line in the center and building out organically over a textured acrylic base. The theme of an undersea world only developed after it became evident. Despite what it looks like, the forms are expressed abstractly. Using special 3-D glasses produces an effect of several feet in depth and very subtle overlappings of forms. The full range of blues fades into greens, then yellows up to the reds. Emphasis on a strong 3-D effect makes this painting far surpasses that of any of my other works in this characteristic.
