Oil on canvas, 48 X 32 inches, 2005
My Capricorn painting is adapted from a 16th century Italian print that was part of a Zodiacal series. My mother, my wife, her mother, our son and myself are all Capricorns, and I thought this would be a great symbol for us. I am not interested in horoscopes and astrology but I am interested in the history of astronomy. This painting was done as part of my design work for the series of constellation drawings for the planetarium at Modesto Junior College. This series of constellation drawings have been incorporated via laser into 7-foot square aluminum panels that decorate the exterior of the new planetarium.
